Picking up eight years after the Jern family faced the demon, this story starts at mph and does NOT let up! Without giving away any part of the plot, I have to say that one of the things I have truly come to appreciate about Mr. Meredith's storytelling style, is the way he describes the essence of each character.
For those not familiar with this type of genre, you should know that there are graphic scenes in this book that will make you very uncomfortable. They serve a purpose. This book is dark, and doesn't pretend to be otherwise.

Read at your own risk. I feel like I just ran a marathon. I'm off to find the next in this series now. I read and really enjoyed the first book in the series but could not finish this one which is a shame. Just a heads up before you pay that it is beyond graphic. I think the first 4 or 5 graphic descriptions of rape; hmmm how to put it delicately Talitha pleasuring it herself and letting her brother know how much she wants it I began to wonder if there was a story past how evil she had become.
Suspect most of the 5 stars are men assumption on my part I realize Recommend the first book but really wish I hadn't started this one.

No prude but just like I don't watch Saw movies had to give up reading before I ended up with images I really don't want in my head. One person found this helpful. I did not really feel that I could get into this book. I loved the first in the series, but I wonder where all of the creepy tension went? Instead we get a part slasher drama, with some mystical theology thrown in.
It would make a great movie! I simply could not get behind the idea of SuperTalitha. She should have an "S" sewn on her shirt! Her character comes at the expense of Will, who was an interesting person in the first edition. In this one, he is a lackey. You feel sad for him, and later you just want him to crawl away. I would consider this to be a fairly good book, but it is very, very average. More like a 99 cent title to me. I WILL be reading the third book in the series because the ending intrigued me I just happened upon the first book in this trilogy and I've been hooked ever since.
I'm pretty cheap when it comes to buying books for my kindle but I always expect something great. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Refresh and try again. Open Preview See a Problem? Despite all the sacrifices to save her from the demon, 8 years previously, Talitha Jern came back from her time in hell, changed.
Trilogy of the Void by Peter Meredith
At once, she is the sweet innocent sister that he has always loved, but she is also a diabolical beauty, cruel, devious, and powerful as well, with physical capabilities that are unmatched. Talitha is also after Luke, not to save any useless children, but to further her own ends and Will must kill her first, if he is going to have any chance against the demon.
View all 5 comments. Nov 12, Loren rated it it was amazing. Since it comes eight years after the first it almost doesn't feel like a sequal. In fact, other than Will and Talitha who is almost not in the first book you don't find many of the original characters from book one. Still the two carry the story fighting it out in the ultimate of sibling rivalry. Nov 24, Tina Albertson rated it really liked it Shelves: Horror genre is not something I typically read, however since I really enjoyed the authors other series I thought I would give this a go ahead.
What a breath of fresh air this was from my usual zombie and dystopian books. The characters and story kept me engaged, so much so that I had this book read in 2 days. I'm looking forward to future work from Peter Meredith. Jul 21, Leah rated it it was amazing. I wish I had read this sooner. I borrowed this from my sister after reading the first and I have to say Wow! This is a much darker book than the first, and it is chock full of good vs bad and good vs badder.
Talitha is one of the best characters I have read in ages. You hate her and love her, depending on where her mind is so to speak no spoilers! The story picks up after eight years in which Talitha is all but insane, switching between personalities, going from her old sweet intellectual self t I wish I had read this sooner.
The story picks up after eight years in which Talitha is all but insane, switching between personalities, going from her old sweet intellectual self to a new almost demonic girl who relishes the pain she causes. If this is ever made into a movie i am volunteering right now to play her part. She is wild and fun but only in an evil way. Will is back, but his parents and Katie are both absent from this novel. Will has also changed in eight years. Though I missed this the first time i read the first book, he stole from Adrina the ability to see a doomed future.
He generally sees only death and pain, but sometimes can see better things like his soon to be born baby girl Will's sense of duty carries him along through this book, but you can tell that all the pain that he sees and feels is eroding his mind and he heads into the final chapter dragging his feet, knowing his death is very close.
I feel sorry for him through out this entire book and at the end But the saddest character of all Is Jim. A great big guy who is ugly and loveless, he falls for Talitha, refusing to kill much less hurt the "not so nice" Talitha. Over all a great book. If you liked the first one and I can't imagine someone not then you will just love this one too. Jul 01, Karl Rundel rated it it was amazing. Very good job, Peter. There were parts of this book that just left me stunned, ie Sister Mary in the storage rooms beneath the church, and pretty much every scene with Talitha.
This second book in the trilogy of the Void focuses on the Talitha and Will Jern and how they cope with Talitha's return from hell. It is is an interesting take and one I wasn't expecting, though in retrospect I should have. Talitha comes back about as evil as a person can be. Or part of her is evil while another part is Very good job, Peter. Or part of her is evil while another part is sweet and brainy as she was in the first book. The constant battle between the two aspects of her kept me on the edge of my seat. Will also changed, but his change has occurred simply because of how he had to deal with his sister.
He's on the verge of being an alcoholic and or having a complete mental breakdown.
